Turkish university admission for Chinese students
Turkey's higher-education sector has internationalised rapidly over the past decade. More than 1,500 English-taught programs are now available; several Turkish universities sit inside global top-500 rankings; and private institutions such as Koç, Sabancı, Bilkent, and İstanbul Üniversitesi keep increasing their international intake. For Chinese students, Turkish university tuition runs 50 to 80 percent below UK and US equivalents, and graduates can convert to a residence permit or work permit on completion. We give Chinese students and families end-to-end support: institution selection, program matching, application file preparation, YÖS or SAT planning, student visa, accommodation, and the on-arrival residence permit.

FAQ
Turkish university admission for Chinese students. What clients ask
Why study at a Turkish university as a Chinese student?
Three reasons. Cost: tuition at strong Turkish universities runs USD 1,500 to 12,000 per year, roughly 50 to 80 percent below comparable UK or US institutions. Quality: several Turkish universities are inside the global top 500 (Koç, Sabancı, Bilkent, METU, Boğaziçi). Pathway: a Turkish degree can convert to a residence permit, a work permit, or in some cases the citizenship-by-investment plan for the family. Turkey is also a strong stepping stone to the EU and the MENA region.
What is the YÖS exam and do I need to take it?
YÖS (Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrenci Sınavı) is the Foreign Student Examination for entry to most Turkish public universities. It tests Turkish language and mathematics and is held annually between March and May. Private universities mostly do not require YÖS and accept high-school transcripts plus SAT or equivalent. We screen which universities and programs match your profile and decide on the exam path early.
Do I need to speak Turkish to study in Turkey?
Not necessarily. More than 1,500 programs are taught in English, and many private universities are entirely English-medium. For Turkish-medium programs, you typically need a TÖMER C1 certificate or pass the university's own Turkish examination. Many students take one year of Turkish language preparation before starting the degree, and we coordinate the language-school enrollment and student residence permit as a combined package.
How much do tuition and living costs run per year?
Public universities: USD 1,500 to 4,500 per year for foreign students. Private universities: USD 6,000 to 25,000 per year depending on the program (medicine and dentistry sit at the top). Istanbul living costs (accommodation, food, transport) sit in the range of USD 600 to 1,500 per month depending on lifestyle. Smaller Turkish cities run noticeably cheaper. We provide a full budget projection during the consultation.
Can my child stay in Turkey after graduation?
Yes. Graduates may apply for a one-year job-search residence permit, then convert to a work permit if employed. Graduates who complete a master's or PhD often qualify for the Turquoise Card (permanent work and residence) after several years of professional experience. For families planning long-term residence in Turkey, university admission is a strong first step that pairs cleanly with the citizenship-by-investment route at a later stage.
What does Turchina do that I cannot do directly?
We do four things you cannot easily replicate from China: (1) we have direct relationships with international student offices at the major Turkish universities; (2) we know which programs accept Chinese high-school transcripts without entrance exams and which do not; (3) we handle the bilingual document workflow (transcripts, apostille, Turkish translation, recommendation letters) and the on-arrival residence permit; (4) we are physically present in Istanbul if anything goes wrong after your child arrives.
