Turkish IP services for Chinese individuals and companies
Turkey is a first-to-file jurisdiction. The single most common loss for Chinese companies entering the Turkish market is having a local squatter register the brand first, then demand payment to release it. We coordinate the full IP perimeter for Chinese clients: trademarks, patents, utility models, industrial designs, and copyright. The formal filings are handled by registered Turkish trademark and patent attorneys (Marka ve Patent Vekili) in our network. Under Turkish law this is a regulated profession separate from lawyers, with direct standing to file at the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (Turkpatent). Turchina Group does not provide legal services. We run the project, manage the bilingual workflow, coordinate with your Chinese-side team, and make sure the protective scope makes commercial sense.

FAQ
Turkish IP services for Chinese individuals and companies. What clients ask
Can Turchina file my trademark in Turkey?
We coordinate the filing; the formal filing is performed by a registered Turkish trademark and patent attorney (Marka ve Patent Vekili) in our network. Under Turkish law, only registered IP attorneys have standing to file at the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (Turkpatent). This is a regulated profession separate from lawyers. Turchina is the project manager, the bilingual interface, and the strategic adviser; the attorney does the formal work under your power of attorney.
How long does a Turkish trademark application take?
From filing to registration certificate, the average timeline is 8 to 14 months if no opposition is raised. The phases: formal examination (1 to 2 months), publication in the Turkish Patent Bulletin (2 months opposition window), substantive examination (3 to 6 months), and registration. We give clients a realistic project plan with checkpoints at each phase.
Should I file directly in Turkey or through the Madrid System?
Both work; the choice depends on how many countries you need. For three or fewer countries, direct national filings are usually cheaper and faster. For four or more countries that include Turkey, the Madrid System is more cost-effective per jurisdiction. We model both for your specific portfolio. A Chinese company can file Madrid via the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), extending into Turkey as a designated state.
What is the official Turkish trademark fee?
Official Turkpatent fees for a single class application run roughly USD 80 to 150 (TRY equivalent, updated annually). Each additional class adds a similar amount. Attorney service fees run separately, typically USD 250 to 600 per single-class filing depending on complexity. We provide a written quote covering both before any filing.
Can I cover my brand across all 45 Nice classes?
Yes, but it almost never makes commercial sense. Filing across all 45 classes for one mark would cost more than USD 5,000 in official fees alone and creates non-use cancellation exposure within five years for classes you do not actually trade in. We help you identify the 2 to 6 classes that actually protect your business and add a small defensive layer in adjacent classes where useful.
What if someone has already registered my trademark in Turkey?
Three options: (1) opposition or revocation action through your Turkish IP attorney if filed in bad faith or unused for over five years; (2) coexistence negotiation; (3) buy-back. The right path depends on the squatter profile and the trademark value. We assess the situation and brief you in writing before any approach. Most cases resolve within 6 to 18 months.
